About the Author

Mike Murango is a DevOps Engineer and Platform Engineer who designs, builds and runs the infrastructure that modern applications depend on.

He is currently the DevOps Lead at Wasaachat Ltd, a new social media platform in Africa, where he leads the engineering of the platform's infrastructure, deployment pipelines and container orchestration. Building for a fast-growing consumer platform means designing systems that stay reliable as traffic and user numbers climb, which is exactly the kind of problem he enjoys solving.

Before Wasaachat, Mike was the DevOps Lead at Webmasters Kenya Ltd, where he led DevOps practice and infrastructure operations.

Mike has extensive hands-on knowledge across the full DevOps stack: Kubernetes and container platforms, Linux systems administration, public cloud, and bare-metal and virtualisation tooling such as Proxmox and VMware. That range, from hypervisor to cluster to pipeline, shapes this book. It is written from the point of view of someone who has to make the platform work end to end, not just pass an exam.

He is an enthusiast of technology, of scaling systems, and above all of Kubernetes. This guide grew out of that enthusiasm: a practical, no-filler companion for engineers who already know Kubernetes and want to master OpenShift administration and earn the EX280 certification.
